Construction Manager

Job Purpose

  • Assist Assistant General Manager for the construction works of the assigned new and / or asset enhancement projects.
  • Liaison, supervision, monitoring and inspection of the construction works and testing & commissioning activities from design to completion through handover to Business Units and/or Property Services departments until expiry of defect liability period of construction contracts.
  • Ensure projects are delivered to highest standard with due regard to quality, safety, time, cost, sustainability and social responsibility requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Assistant General Manager to ensure the construction works fully comply with the contract documentations, contracts drawings and comment on contractor’s submission e.g. shop drawings, sample, material and mock up installation etc.
  • Monitor and advise on construction planning, programme, quality, cost and report any major incidents to the Assistant Construction Manager.
  • Conduct site inspections on contractor’s work to ensure the quality of works, safety and environmental precaution measures carried out in compliance with the contract document and statutory regulations.
  • Follow up the instructions / directions from the Assistant General Manager and implement on site.
  • Liaise and coordinate with the in-house team, external consultant team and contractors & suppliers for the on-site work activities.
  • Liaise with the Property Management and relevant parties for the building testing & commissioning, handover activities and follow up the status of defects rectification.
  • Night works will be involved.


Skills, Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in Building / Building Studies / Building Surveying / Architectural / Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 15 years’ in building / construction industry with at least 10 years site supervision and management experience in building construction and A&A / renovation projects.
  • Experience in commercial and retail projects would be an advantage.
  • Initiative, being systematic, able to work under pressure and commit to project deliverables.
  • Good leadership, site management and communication skills.
  • Good PC knowledge.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Chinese and English.
  • 5.5 days work: Monday - Friday, alternate Saturday AM
